Description
64 x 74 This vintage American patchwork quilt features the traditional Grandmother’s Fan pattern. The piece is composed of square blocks, each showcasing a fan motif made of radiating wedges in a diverse array of mid-century cotton fabrics. The selection includes various floral prints, ginghams, stripes, and a novelty print featuring vintage automobiles. Each fan originates from a solid yellow quarter-circle pivot. The fans are set onto a cream-colored cotton ground and oriented in a consistent direction across the quilt top. The item is both hand-pieced and hand-quilted, with the quilting design following echoing concentric fan shapes visible on both the front and the reverse. The reverse is composed of a solid pale yellow cotton fabric, and the edges are finished with a matching yellow fabric binding.
