Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 283:
Description
74 x 82 This antique American hand-pieced quilt top features a repeating geometric spool pattern, also commonly known as a bow tie pattern. The textile is constructed from red and off-white cotton fabrics. Each individual block is composed of a central rectangular piece flanked by two trapezoidal elements that form the spool motif. These blocks are hand-stitched together, alternating colors to create a secondary optical design across the field. The reverse side reveals the hand-sewn construction with exposed raw seam allowances typical of late 19th to early 20th-century folk textiles. This piece is an unfinished quilt top and does not include batting, backing, or quilting stitches.
