Description
66 x 84 This mid-century crazy quilt top features a patchwork design composed of irregularly shaped fabric scraps arranged into large rectangular blocks. These blocks are separated by wide sashing strips of solid pink fabric. The scrappy portions include a diverse array of patterns such as floral prints in various scales, gingham checks, polka dots, stripes, houndstooth, and solid colors. The fabrics appear to be a mix of cotton and cotton-blends, consistent with domestic textile production from the mid-20th century. The reverse of the piece is lined with a single layer of coarse-weave off-white cotton fabric, which exhibits the texture and appearance of repurposed flour or feed sacks. Simple diagonal hand-stitching is visible on the backing, securing the layers together. The edges are unfinished with raw fabric visible, suggesting this may be a completed quilt top or that the original binding has been removed.
