Description

60 x 76 This is an unfinished mid-20th century American quilt top featuring a random patchwork crazy quilt design. The piece is constructed from a wide assortment of cotton and cotton-blend scrap fabrics, representative of dress remnants or feed sack materials from the 1930s through the 1950s. Patterns include various floral calicos, ginghams, plaids, polka dots, solids, and geometric target prints. A notable novelty print with cartoon lambs or bunnies on a yellow ground is featured near the center. The construction utilizes machine-stitched seams to join the irregularly shaped fabric pieces. As an unfinished top, the item lacks batting, a backing, and finished binding. The reverse side clearly displays the machine-stitched seams and raw fabric edges.
