Description
76 x 82 flower patter, 36 x 86 wedding ring. This lot consists of two unfinished American quilt tops, dating from approximately the mid-20th century. The first item is a tulip applique quilt top featuring stylized red and yellow tulips with green stems and leaves, hand-applied to a white cotton ground. The white fabric is marked with hand-drawn graphite or ink templates for a future quilting pattern, including feathered wreaths and diagonal grid lines. The second item is a partially pieced quilt top in the Double Wedding Ring pattern. Several interlocking rings have been completed using a variety of multicolored floral and geometric cotton prints, typical of Depression-era or feedsack-style fabrics. These rings are joined at intersections with solid purple fabric squares. Large areas of the white cotton ground are marked with blue or grey lines indicating the planned placement for the remaining rings.
