Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 148:
Description
78 x 90 This textile is a hand-pieced and hand-quilted in Indiana bedcover or throw quilt featuring a modern improvisational geometric block design. The quilt is constructed from various solid-colored matte fabrics, likely cotton or a cotton-blend, in a cool-toned palette of navy blue, royal blue, teal, and slate gray, accented with dark green and brown. The individual squares contain varied arrangements of diagonal strips and triangles. These blocks are separated by a dark navy blue sashing and are framed by a medium blue border with a thin, light-colored binding edge. The quilting is done by hand and follows the diagonal lines of the pieced design. The reverse side features a solid light blue backing fabric.
