Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 145:
Description
72 x 78 This is an antique American handmade patchwork quilt dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The textile features a classic two-color red and white palette in a variation of the Feathered Star or Sawtooth Star pattern. The layout consists of sixteen 4×4 blocks set against a white ground. Each block is composed of a central red square surrounded by radiating star points with triangular feathered edges and smaller square accents. The quilt top is framed by a wide red inner border and a plain white outer border. The item is meticulously hand-pieced and features dense hand-quilting in a diagonal diamond cross-hatch pattern across the entire surface. The reverse is finished with plain white cotton fabric, which clearly displays the intricate hand-stitched quilting.
