Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 140B:
Description
48 x 82 This vintage mid-century patchwork quilt top is constructed from an assortment of cotton and cotton-blend scrap fabrics. The primary field is composed of square patches joined together in a one-patch style. The fabrics include a variety of prints typical of the 1940s and 1950s, such as large-scale florals, small calico patterns, plaids, checks, and polka dots. Notable among the scraps are vibrant yellow magnolia-style floral motifs and prints resembling period feed sacks. The piece features a wide border of light blue fabric decorated with a printed faux-cross-stitch pattern of pink tulips and green foliage. The reverse side reveals exposed seam allowances, confirming the item is an unfinished quilt top.
