72 x 96 This textile is a large-scale American yo-yo quilt, also known as a coverlet or bed topper. It is hand-constructed from hundreds of individual circular fabric pieces, known as yo-yos, which have been gathered at the center and hand-stitched together in an interlocking grid. The material consists of a diverse assortment of scrap fabrics, including cotton and various synthetic blends such as polyester knits. The pattern is an eclectic multi-colored scrap design, featuring a wide array of prints including floral motifs, polka dots, stripes, paisley, and abstract geometric patterns. Some sections exhibit a loose arrangement by color or pattern family, such as rows of blue, cream, and brown tones. The fabric selection and colors are characteristic of the mid-20th century.
