Description
A multi-volume set titled Pennsylvania: Political, Governmental, Military and Civil, authored by Frederic A. Godcharles, Litt. D., former State Librarian and Director Museum. This set was published by The American Historical Society, Inc., New York, circa 1933. The set includes volumes titled: Biographical Volume; Physical, Economic and Social Volume; Governmental Volume; Political and Civil History Volume; and Military Volume. The books are bound in the publisher’s textured blue cloth with gilt-stamped lettering and decorative horizontal bands on the spines. Each volume contains a frontispiece portrait with a simple black border framing the title page. The Biographical Volume features a frontispiece portrait of a man with a printed facsimile signature transcribed as Jno. McElhenny. The volumes provide a comprehensive historical and biographical survey of the state of Pennsylvania.
