Lot 115:
Description
This two-volume set, titled Myers’ History of West Virginia, was authored by Sylvester Myers and published in 1915. The work is bound in the publisher’s burgundy cloth with gold-stamped titles on the front covers. The title page of Volume I specifies the work is complete in two volumes. Volume II includes a prefatory note addressed to the public, signed by S. Myers and dated August 1st, 1915, from New Martinsville, West Virginia. This note explains that the inclusion of additional historical matter necessitated the division of the work into two volumes. The text covers regional history and social customs, including descriptions of pioneer life and community traditions. The volumes are roughly octavo in size. A pink circular sticker with the number 115 is adhered to the upper right corner of the front cover of Volume II.
