Description
This antique cast iron bell assembly is characteristic of the school and plantation bells produced by North American foundries during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The set comprises the bell, a rotating yoke with an integrated crank arm, and a large arched mounting frame designed for post installation. The bell is secured to the yoke by a central threaded bolt. Inside, the original cast iron clapper remains attached via a hook and eye mechanism. The overall design is utilitarian and functional. No manufacturer marks, model numbers, or patent dates are discernible on the casting. Bell diameter: approximately 10 to 14 inches.
