Description

Produced by Mibuso GmbH, this figural coin bank depicts the character Herr Tropf (Mr. Drop), the oil drop mascot used by Esso in Germany beginning in the 1950s. The figure is modeled in a standing pose with the left hand behind the head and the right hand on the hip. The bank is constructed of two cast iron halves joined by assembly screws, with a coin slot located on the upper back. The character features the Esso brand name in red letters within a blue oval outline on the chest, and the base is inscribed with Herr TROPF in blue letters flanking a central logo. The underside of the base features the cast-in manufacturer mark MIBUSO GmbH. This item is designed in an antique style; the heavy pitting and wear are consistent with either genuine age or intentional distressing found on contemporary reproductions. Height: approximately 7 – 9 inches.
