Description
This is a double-sided metal flange sign used to identify the location of a public telephone. The sign features a blue square field with a white border. The graphics consist of a stylized white telephone handset icon and the word Phone in a white sans-serif typeface. This layout was the standard universal symbol for public telephones in the United States throughout the latter half of the 20th century, commonly used by the Bell System and successor telecommunications companies. The sign is constructed of metal with a glossy blue and white finish. It includes an integral mounting flange on one side with pre-drilled holes for mounting to a wall or post. The design is identical on both sides.
