Description
This mechanical steam shovel excavator was manufactured by Wyandotte Toys, a brand of the All Metal Products Company. The toy is constructed from pressed steel and is finished in an orange color scheme with yellow-painted wheels. The assembly consists of a rotating cab mounted on a fixed base featuring four metal wheels and black rubber crawler tracks. A manufacturer’s decal is located on the left side of the cab, featuring a black oval with a gold border, a red circular logo with a white letter W, and the text It is a Wyandotte Toy!. The machine operates via two metal hand cranks on the right side of the cab which control the raising and lowering of the boom and the movement of the dipper arm and bucket assembly. The bucket is equipped with a hinged bottom door. The rear of the cab contains an open portal that exposes an internal metal spring mechanism. The white cords used for the pulley system appear to be modern replacements.
