Lot 264:
Description
This hanging display rack is an antique cast iron horse buggy whip holder, typically used for retail display in country stores or storage in carriage houses during the late 19th century. The piece features a large circular ring with approximately 36 integrated U-shaped slots around its outer edge for holding whip handles. The ring is suspended from three lengths of linked chain that converge at a central spreader bar. This central component is finished with a turned decorative element and a large circular loop for hanging. The entire assembly has a dark, uniform oxidized finish. No foundry marks or patent dates are visible. A white paper inventory tag is currently attached to the outer ring.
