Description
This is a cylindrical lithographed advertising tin for Buckingham Bright Cut Plug Smoking Tobacco. The container features an orange-painted finish on the body and the original slip-on lid. The central label is set against a black ground and utilizes multi-colored stylized lettering in green, yellow, red, and orange. The design includes floral sprays and an illustration of a pipe. Text on the lower banner identifies the original manufacturer as John J. Bagley and Co. of Detroit, Michigan, with The American Tobacco Co. listed as the successor manufacturer. The base of the tin is impressed with a manufacturer mark featuring a circle and horizontal bar within a pointed oval frame.
