Description
This lot consists of eight miniature cast iron pieces produced as promotional advertisements, including four small skillets and four ashtrays designed with dual side rests. These items are characteristic of promotional giveaways manufactured by companies such as Martin Stove and Range Company and Lodge Manufacturing during the mid-20th century. The collection features raised cast lettering and logos for several Southern businesses and national brands. Included are a red-painted ashtray for Martin Stoves; a black-finished skillet for Cashmans Furniture; a dark iron skillet for Broadhead Furniture Co. of Florence, Alabama; a red-painted skillet featuring the American Stove Company logo; a green-painted ashtray for Maryville Furniture Co.; a black-finished ashtray titled Travelin Thru Arkansas featuring a horse-drawn wagon relief; a black-finished skillet for Rolane Gas Co. of Hazard, Kentucky, with a central flame motif; and a dark iron ashtray for The Blanket Store in Pleasant View, Tennessee.
