Lot 110:
Description
A small, heavy cast brass anchor designed as a nautical desk accessory or paperweight, frequently identified as a salesman’s sample. The piece consists of a central shank with an eyelet at the head and two flukes at the base. The construction features a textured surface with minor pitting, characteristic of traditional sand casting. The bottom of the anchor is designed with three circular protrusions that have been ground flat to allow the object to stand upright. While unmarked, the design resembles the stockless anchors produced by manufacturers such as W.L. Byers and Company Ltd. The brass has a bright yellow-gold color with areas of darker oxidation and tarnish in the crevices. A string tag with a barcode is attached through the eyelet.
