Description
This is a Mattel Firebolt Space Cannon from the Man in Space Major Matt Mason toy line. The set is constructed of molded plastic in white, orange, and grey. Visible components include the main cannon body with a flexible black barrel, a large orange plastic base, and a white accessory marked USA-1. The original pictorial cardboard box is included, featuring artwork of astronauts operating the equipment on a lunar-style landscape. According to the packaging, the toy was designed with several motorized and electronic features including a rotating radar antenna, a 360-degree rotating turret, a light-up radar screen, pulsating solar sound, motorized advancement across terrain, and an elevating barrel. Printed marks on the box include Mattel’s Man in Space, Firebolt Space Cannon, and Major Matt Mason. The Mattel Toymakers logo is present on the lower left of the front panel. The unit is designed for operation using two D batteries.
