Description
This Rudy the Robot is a motorized, battery-operated toy produced by Remco Industries Inc. of Harrison, New Jersey. The toy is identified as Style 722 and is constructed primarily from molded orange and yellow plastic. The robot features a blocky, anthropomorphic design with a stylized head, lightning-bolt graphic eyes, and a rectangular torso. Mechanical functions include a walking gait with swinging arms and an automatic reverse "bump and go" feature facilitated by a wire sensor bar at the base. The back of the yellow plastic torso is embossed with the following text: REMCO INDUSTRIES INC., HARRISON, N.J., MADE IN U.S.A., PATENT NOS. 3,347,543 3,371,442, OTHERS PENDING. A small paper instructional label is affixed to the lower rear reading: PULL BAR IF ROBOT DOES NOT REVERSE. The toy is accompanied by its original illustrated cardboard packaging and a plain cardboard inner box. The outer box displays graphic illustrations of the robot’s functions and carries the Remco logo. The robot requires four D size batteries for operation.
