Description
This vintage sterilization tray is manufactured by DeWitt and is identified by the Steri-Tool brand name. The vessel is constructed of heavy-walled white glazed ceramic. The interior is divided into four sections designed for organizing and soaking instruments. A single long rectangular well runs along the front of the tray. The rear portion is divided into three smaller compartments. The central rear compartment features an integrated ceramic rack with two cross-shaped supports and side notches designed to hold tools such as barber shears or razors upright. The front face of the tray displays blue transfer-printed markings including the DeWitt name, a centered Greek cross symbol, and the text STERI-TOOL. This type of caddy was traditionally utilized in mid-20th century barber shops for the chemical sterilization of professional tools.
