This lot consists of two vintage promotional advertising pieces. The first item is a circa 1950s die-cut cardboard countertop easel-back display for Vitalis hair tonic, manufactured by the Bristol-Myers Co. of New York, N.Y. The display features a lithographed pin-up style illustration of a woman wearing a red, white, and blue striped dress and fishnet stockings, positioned next to a large bottle of Vitalis. The graphic includes a barber pole topped with a globe reading You’re Next. Text on the display includes Keep Hair In Place Easy To Comb and Your Barber is an expert… ask him about Vitalis with V-7. The bottle label graphic specifies Feel the difference in your Scalp See the difference in your Hair and For Barber Use Only. The reverse side features a large, integrated cardboard easel stand. The second item is a paper 1940 Rexall Weather Chart Calendar, distributed by The Baltzly Co. Druggists of Massillon, Ohio. The calendar includes multiple pages with various product advertisements and thematic graphics, such as a skier promoting Halibut Liver Oil on the January page and school supplies on the September page. Side margins include advertisements for Rexall Orderlies chocolate laxatives. The reverse pages of the calendar contain period-specific reference information including an Annual Inventory of Your Assets, livestock breeding and gestation tables, and a Seed Planting in the United States chart.
