Description
This large-scale utilitarian vessel is an example of ethnographic basketry, likely intended for gathering or transport. The interior is formed from overlapping panels of dried organic material, identified as palm spathe or similar bark sheets, which are contained within a structural exterior lattice of thick, bent woody vines. The rim is reinforced with a heavy vine and lashed to the body with natural fiber twine. It features a high-arched bail handle constructed from twisted vines. The piece reflects a traditional, primitive construction style consistent with agricultural tools from South American or Southeast Asian regions.
