A collection of law enforcement-themed commemorative badges presented in a custom wooden shadow box. Based on visual characteristics and market consensus, this set is identified as The Official Badges of the Great Western Lawmen, issued by the Franklin Mint in the late 1980s. The collection features metal badges in various traditional shapes, primarily finished in silver-tone/nickel-plating with one star finished in a gold tone. The designs are inspired by historical Western and regional law enforcement agencies. Transcribed markings include Special Deputy Sheriff Sonoma County, Deputy U.S. Marshal, United States Deputy Marshal I.T. (Indian Territory), Marshal Wichita, Lincoln County Sheriff, C.R.I. & P.R.R. Private Police Detective (Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad), City Marshal El Paso, Deputy Sheriff Custer Co. Montana, Colorado Rangers Capt., State Ranger, Territorial Arizona Ranger, and a five-pointed star identified to Chas. F. Lambert Cimarron, New Mexico. The badges are mounted within recessed cutouts on a maroon velvet-textured backing. The display is housed in a glazed oak frame featuring etched glass corners depicting revolvers and lariats.
