Description
Bed is 20 x 29A manual air supply bellows manufactured by Siebe Gorman and Co. Ltd. of London, designed for use with a smoke helmet. The apparatus consists of a brown leather bellows body with metal stud reinforcement, mounted on a solid rectangular wooden base. Functional components include a cast brass foot pedal and a large, curved brass air intake horn. The top of the bellows body retains two original brass plates. One is an oval maker mark indicating the company name and the London S.E.1 postal district. The second is a rectangular instructional plaque outlining signal codes used between the operator and the helmet wearer via a lifeline. The foot pedal is embossed with the maker name.
