Description
Child’s commode or potty chair in the American Primitive style, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The chair is constructed from solid pine planks with utilitarian nail joinery. The design features a high back with curved side panels that serve as both armrests and the side structure of the base. The seat has a hand-cut circular aperture to accommodate the accompanying chamber pot. The pot is constructed of white enamelware with a red-painted rim and a single handle. No maker marks or signatures are visible on the chair or the chamber pot. A modern inventory barcode is affixed to the backrest.
