Description
This antique magic lantern projector dates from the late 19th to early 20th century and is designed in a style consistent with German manufacturers of the era. The instrument features a cylindrical tin body finished in a bright green enamel, crowned with a multi-tiered brass chimney for heat ventilation. The housing is supported by a bell-shaped brass pedestal, which is mounted to a rectangular wood-grained base. The optical system includes a separate brass projection lens housing mounted on an ornate, black-finished cast iron scrollwork support. The set is accompanied by a collection of glass slides featuring hand-painted or lithographed subjects such as portraits, animals, landscapes, and whimsical figures. These glass plates are held in orange-toned cardboard frames. No manufacturer marks, model numbers, or patent information are visible on the exterior components or the slide mounts.
