Lot 479:
Description
This mantel clock was manufactured by The Sessions Clock Co. in Forestville, Connecticut, during the early 20th century. It features a mechanical, spring-driven, 8-day time and strike movement. The case is constructed from black-finished wood and is ornamented with gilded architectural elements. The front is flanked by two pairs of fluted columns with Corinthian capitals, topped with decorative pointed gothic arches featuring floral and swag motifs. The cream-colored dial presents black Arabic numerals and black spade-style hands. It includes two winding arbors and a Fast/Slow (F S) adjustment lever at the 12 o’clock position. The dial is protected by a hinged brass bezel with flat glass. Printed text at the bottom of the dial reads: MADE BY THE SESSIONS CLOCK CO. FORESTVILLE, CONN. U.S.A. The lot includes a t-handle winding key marked THAILAND, which serves as a later replacement.
