Description
59 inches round. A round, hand-tufted wool pile rug featuring the Great Seal of the United States. The central design depicts a bald eagle with outspread wings. On its breast is a shield with red and white vertical stripes below a blue chief. The eagle’s right talon holds an olive branch, while the left holds a bundle of arrows. In its beak, it carries a purple scroll inscribed with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. Above the eagle?s head is a circular glory containing a constellation of stars. The entire motif is set against a dark navy blue field and is encircled by a golden-tan border. The rug features a medium-height cut pile with carved or contoured detailing around the central design elements, creating a three-dimensional effect. The reverse is finished with a solid navy blue fabric backing common to hand-tufted rugs, used to cover the primary canvas and adhesive. A small white manufacturer’s tag is present on the outer edge, although the text is not clearly legible in the photographs.
