Description
81x 40. This is a primitive two-piece corner cupboard in the American Country style, likely of American origin and dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The unit is constructed from mixed softwoods, with the door panels featuring a dramatic contrast between light sapwood and darker heartwood, characteristic of Eastern Red Cedar or a similarly figured species of pine. The upper cabinet features a molded, stepped-out cornice over two paneled doors that open to reveal an unpainted interior with two fixed shelves. The lower base section includes a single full-width central drawer positioned above a second pair of paneled cabinet doors, and the unit terminates in a flat base. Hardware consists of ornate cast iron cupboard latches with white milk-glass or porcelain knobs, a decorative cast iron bin-style drawer pull with a relief-molded geometric pattern, and simple surface-mounted iron butt hinges. A modern barcode sticker is present on the interior of the middle shelf.
