Description
This is a J.F. Frantz Johnston Products Division The Challenger Model 200 mechanical pistol shooting gallery arcade game. The unit features a floor-standing cabinet of painted wood with four tapered metal legs and reinforcing corner brackets. The light blue cabinet is decorated with white and dark blue silk-screened graphics depicting various sports including football, boxing, motorcycle racing, and bowling. A cast metal pistol is mounted to the front of the cabinet for aiming at targets. The playfield is protected by a glass cover and features a stone-wall-themed backdrop with four target holes. Hits are recorded on a vertical backglass score scale ranging from 0 to 1000. The rear of the cabinet includes a black and silver metal manufacturer identification plate that reads J.F FRANTZ DIVISION JOHNSTON PRODUCTS P.O. BOX 898 EAST MOLINE, IL 61244 MODEL – 200 – SERIAL NO. 83056. The front of the machine has a coin slot originally labeled 5 cents with a hand-applied paper note stating WORKS ON DIMES.
