Lot 418:
Description
This lot consists of a pair of scale commercial aircraft desktop display models. The models are constructed of plastic or resin and are mounted on weighted black plastic curved bases. The first model is a United Airlines Boeing 747 featuring the orange, red, and blue stripe livery designed by Saul Bass. The fuselage displays the United name and tulip logo toward the nose and the registration number N7371U toward the tail. The vertical stabilizer is decorated with the red and blue United tulip logo. The second model is a Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) McDonnell Douglas DC-10 in the billboard livery. It features large blue block lettering on the fuselage and the blue globe logo on the vertical stabilizer, topped with a small United States flag. Both items are static display models with no moving parts. While unmarked, the construction and style are consistent with promotional travel agency models produced by manufacturers such as Westway Aircraft Models or Wooster.
