Lot 41:
Description
Many military images, including battle scenes, soldiers, and more. American magic lantern glass slides housed in a specialized slotted wooden carrying case. The slides are positive photographic transparencies mounted between two plates of glass and bound with black tape. At least one slide bears a paper border identifying the location as Albany, New York, and the photographer as J. A. Glenn. James A. Glenn (1875?1953) was a prominent commercial and documentary photographer based in Albany, active in the early 20th century. The imagery appears historical and topographical in nature, featuring landscapes with buildings and street scenes. The rectangular wooden case is finished in a black pebbled leatherette exterior with a purple fabric-lined interior lid. The front metal latch is stamped with the manufacturer mark for the Eagle Lock Company of Terryville, Connecticut. The case includes a top carrying handle and a central locking mechanism. Slide Dimensions: 3.25 x 4 inches.
