Description

A set of nine original, unusedseed packets produced by the Card Seed Company of Fredonia, New York. These packets feature high-quality color lithograph illustrations of various vegetables, dating to approximately the 1920s. The collection includes a diverse range of garden varieties: Cucumber (Boston Pickling), Squash (Boston Marrow and Summer crookneck), Okra (Gumbo), Bush Beans (Henderson’s White Lima), Pepper (Long Red Cayenne Peperone), and Tomato (Livingston’s Beauty Pomodoro Grosso). Each packet is printed with the company name and location on the front. The reverse side of every envelope provides comprehensive cultivation instructions including planting depth, soil preparation, and spacing, alongside specific identification numbers such as 389, 805, 446, 487, 386, 479, and 486. These examples are representative of the early 20th-century commercial lithography and the seed industry in Western New York. Dimensions: 3.25 x 5.25 inches each.
