Description

This lot consists of threeadvertising garrison-style caps for Wolf’s Head Motor Oil, a brand associated with Pennsylvania-grade petroleum products. Produced circa 1950s to 1960s in the United States, these caps were standard uniform apparel for service station attendants and mechanics. The caps are constructed from heavy-weight cotton canvas or drill cloth with a two-piece overseas cap design featuring a central top seam and contrasting fabric binding along the bottom edge. The interiors are lined with a black, moisture-resistant coated fabric, likely vinyl or treated oilcloth. The collection includes one dark green cap with red fabric binding. The exterior features screen-printed silver-white block lettering reading WOLF’S HEAD MOTOR OIL. The interior flap is stamped with size 7 1/2. The other two caps are red canvas with black fabric binding. These feature the signature white wolf-head profile logo superimposed on a diagonal white band. The text reads WOLF’S HEAD 100% PURE PENNSYLVANIA. One red cap is stamped with the size 6 7/8 on the lower right exterior, while the other example does not have a visible exterior size mark.
