Description
An advertising sign manufactured by American Art Works of Coshocton, Ohio, for the Indian Motocycle Company of Springfield, Massachusetts. This single-sided sign is constructed of lithographed metal featuring a bright yellow ground with a red border. The primary text reads Protect your engine ? Use Specially-Refined DEPENDABLE Indian Oil in a combination of block and script lettering. The graphic on the left depicts a 1-quart Indian Motorcycle Oil can including the brand Native American profile logo. The spelling Motocycle on the can graphic reflects the historical trademark of the company. The reverse is finished with a lithographed faux-wood grain pattern and includes a black hanging wire. A printed box on the reverse contains maintenance instructions: TO keep this sign clean and bright wipe the surface of it every thirty days with a damp cloth. The manufacturer mark is printed vertically to the right of the instruction box: AMERICAN ART WORKS COSHOCTON, OHIO. Dimensions not provided.
