Lot 252:
Description
This collection consists of US military field equipment dating from the Vietnam War through the early post-Vietnam era, representing the transition between the M-1956 canvas and M-1967 nylon load-carrying systems. The grouping features an M-1967 nylon individual equipment belt with metal eyelets, fitted with M-1967 nylon small arms ammunition pouches designed for 30-round M16 magazines. These pouches utilize black plastic quick-release fasteners. Also attached to the belt is a small canvas first aid or compass pouch with a single metal snap closure. The lot includes an olive drab polyethylene 1-quart canteen with a black plastic screw-on cap, housed in an M-1967 quilted nylon canteen cover stenciled with U.S. and featuring a side pocket for water purification tablets. A heavy canvas entrenching tool cover, stenciled U.S., is included and represents the M-1943 or M-1956 pattern. Completing the set is a reversible Mitchell pattern camouflage helmet cover for the M1 steel helmet, featuring the green leaf pattern on one side and the brown cloud pattern on the reverse. The cover includes integrated foliage slits and attachment tabs with faint, partially legible contract markings.
