Description
This lot features twovacuum-formed plastic Halloween masks from the mid-20th century. The first item is a Bland Charnas Co., Inc. clown costume, style number 1103, in its original toddler-sized box. The packaging identifies the manufacturer as Bland Charnas Co., Inc. of Brooklyn 33, New York, and notes the costume is made of flame-retardant rayon. The mask remains protected by the original plastic film within the box and is decorated with a white base, neon yellow eye surrounds, a red nose, and blue and orange accents. Aorange price sticker from Children’s Palace is affixed to the side of the box. The second item is a loose Frankenstein mask produced by the Collegeville Flag and Manufacturing Company. The interior is embossed with the company’s stylized letter C logo containing the number 29, along with the text Made in U.S.A. The mask features a neon yellow face, black hair with blue highlights, a prominent orange forehead scar, and orange lips. Handwritten notations in black ink reading C.S.M. and 1971 are present on the interior surface. The original elastic head strap remains attached with metal staples.
