Description
This group of United States military field equipment primarily dates from the mid-20th century, spanning the World War II and Korean War eras. The collection features an M1 bayonet with a 10-inch blade, full-length fuller, and black ribbed plastic grips. It is housed in an M7 fiberglass scabbard with an olive drab finish and a steel throat. The throat is stamped with the Ordnance Department flaming bomb insignia above a circled U.S. mark. Also included is a standard-issue machete with an 18-inch blade and black plastic grips secured by brass rivets. The machete is paired with an olive drab canvas scabbard featuring a wire belt hanger and a leather-reinforced tip. The webbing set consists of an M1936-style canvas pistol belt with a blackened metal buckle and adjustment eyelets. Mounted to the belt are two canvas utility or ammunition pouches with lift-the-dot fasteners and a 1-quart canteen with a brown plastic screw-cap housed in a canvas cover stenciled U.S. on the front. A canvas first aid pouch is present and contains an original camouflaged field bandage packet with printed identification text and a stock number of 0-201-7455. The items exhibit a combination of OD #3 khaki and OD #7 olive drab green canvas, typical of the transition period in American military equipment manufacturing during the mid-1940s.
