Description
Awall-mounted farm or dinner bell constructed from cast iron in the American Folk Art or Country style. The mounting bracket features a figural rooster perched upon a horizontal support arm. The vertical mounting plate includes pre-drilled holes for installation and a curved scroll brace. The base of the mounting plate is decorated with a circular wheel motif containing a cross-shaped interior. The bell is suspended from the end of the horizontal arm and secured with a threaded bolt. It retains its original internal cast iron clapper. No manufacturer names, foundry marks, or stamps are visible on the surfaces of the casting. This piece likely dates from the late 19th to the mid-20th century.
