Description
11 intall This antique kerosene stand lamp features a clear pressed glass body with a faceted octagonal font and a matching stepped octagonal base joined by a faceted stem. The glass exhibits a strong green fluorescence when exposed to UV light, indicative of manganese-doped glass common in the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The lamp is fitted with a brass burner assembly. The burner thumbwheel is embossed with the text P . & A . M F G . C O . M A D E I N U . S . A . T H O M A S T O N C O N N . signifying manufacture by the Plume and Atwood Manufacturing Company. The word EAGLE is embossed on the top of the burner collar. The lamp base is smooth without a pontil mark, showing visible mold seams consistent with pressed glass manufacturing techniques. A cotton wick is present within the font.
