Description
A collection of 20th-century commemorative pressed glass cup plates manufactured by the Pairpoint Glass Company. The group includes plates in a variety of translucent colors, including clear, amber, amethyst, teal, emerald green, and lavender-blue. Each plate is designed with a decorative scalloped lacy rim and a central intaglio-molded motif commemorating historical sites, organizations, or anniversaries primarily located in the New England region. Specific designs include the Edaville Railroad, New Bedford Fire Museum, Cape Cod Community College, and the 50th anniversary of the Granite City Stamp Club. Several plates retain a circular white adhesive label featuring a black logo of a glassblower surrounded by the text PAIRPOINT GLASS COMPANY and SAGAMORE, MASS.. The collection is accompanied by original light-colored cardboard presentation boxes and printed descriptive inserts. Notable text on the ephemera includes NEW BEDFORD FIRE MUSEUM, NEW BEDFORD PRESERVATION SOCIETY 1974-1984, The Cape Cod Genealogical Society Tenth Anniversary 1971, and Cape Cod Community College 1961.
