Description
A comprehensive archive of military awards and personal identification belonging to Private Violis G. Frenchy Premeau, service number 36820908, who served with Company K, 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division during the Italian Campaign. The collection features an officially machine-engraved Bronze Star Medal inscribed Violis G. Premeau on the reverse. The medal is housed in its original black leatherette presentation case with gold-leaf lettering and a yellow velvet and satin lining, including the matching ribbon bar and lapel pin. Also included is an officially machine-engraved Purple Heart Medal inscribed on the reverse For Military Merit Violis G. Premeau. The grouping includes a standard Army Good Conduct Medal with an unengraved reverse. The ribbon bars consist of a five-place bar displaying the Bronze Star with one bronze service star, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign with two bronze service stars and a bronze arrowhead device, and the World War II Victory Medal. A separate single Army Good Conduct ribbon is also present. Personal identification consists of a single notched WWII-era stainless steel dog tag stamped for Violis G. Premeau with his service number, tetanus date of 1943, blood type A, and next of kin information for Violet Fandrey in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Historical documentation includes a printed copy of a Company K 141st Infantry Morning Report dated February 17, 1944, from the Vicinity of Casino, Italy, listing Premeau as Missing in Action as of February 16. The collection is rounded out by a National World War II Memorial honoree certificate detailing his capture, escape, and service record, and a 10 by 8 inch color photograph of his flat granite government grave marker.
