Description
This is a World War II era Japanese Type 30 bayonet with a corresponding metal scabbard. The item features a single-edged steel blade with a deep fuller running along the majority of its length. The hilt is constructed with a bird’s head shaped pommel featuring a spring-loaded push-button locking mechanism. The crossguard includes a muzzle ring and is of the straight variety. The handle consists of two-piece contoured wooden grip panels secured to the tang by two rivets. The accompanying tubular metal scabbard has a rounded tip and a circular frog stud for belt attachment. A small stamped mark consisting of a six-pointed star is visible on the end of the pommel, identifying manufacture by the Jinsen Arsenal in Incheon, Korea.
