Lot 152:
Description
8 in tall This antique manual butter churn was produced by the Daisy Churn and Manufacturing Company. The item features a square-sided clear glass jar fitted with a cast-iron mechanical lid assembly. The top-mounted mechanism includes a side-oriented hand crank with a turned wooden handle that operates a pair of bevel gears. These gears drive a vertical iron shaft connected to an internal four-blade wooden paddle dasher. One face of the glass jar is embossed with identifying marks: the word DAISY is arranged vertically on the left, the word CHURN is arched across the top, and MFG CO is arranged vertically on the right. The cast-iron housing and lid are secured together with metal rivets and the assembly screws onto the wide mouth of the glass vessel.
