Description
A decorative lidded urn or canister constructed from carved wood with a dark bronze-toned metallic wash finish. The vessel features a pedestal base with a gadrooned foot supporting a main canister body. The exterior of the body is decorated with relief-carved arches containing stylized foliate palmette motifs. The removable lid continues the gadrooned pattern and is topped with a circular finial featuring a carved floral rosette. The finish is applied to simulate the appearance of aged or patinated bronze. The interior of the vessel is hollow and contains some organic debris. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the exterior or base of the piece. Dimensions not provided.
