Description
This is a large, wall-mounted electric sconce designed in the Rococo Revival style. The backplate is constructed of a dark brown composition material or carved wood with an antiqued stain, featuring elaborate relief carvings of acanthus leaf scrolls, C-scrolls, a central shell-like rocaille motif, and a prominent floral bloom at the center. The design is visually consistent with the Artifact collection produced by Restoration Hardware. The sconce features a single curved metal arm in an antiqued brass finish that supports a rectangular box-style shade. The shade is made of cream-colored fabric with vertical pleating. The reverse side of the backplate is finished with gray felt and includes two D-ring hangers for wall mounting. The item is wired with a modern-style electrical cord and a standard North American two-prong plug. An attached white paper tag from Alice Raber Auctions bears the printed name of the auction house and the handwritten number 350.
