Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 319:
Description
62 x 80 This is a vintage hand-pieced quilt top featuring the traditional Grandmothers Flower Garden pattern. The top is composed of numerous hexagonal rosettes, each featuring a center hexagon surrounded by a ring of coordinating fabric. These flower motifs are joined together by a field of white or cream-colored hexagonal pieces. The assembly uses a wide variety of cotton fabric scraps, including solids, calicos, small-scale florals, stripes, and plaids typical of mid-20th-century dress prints and feed sacks. The pieces are joined with hand-stitched seams throughout. The top remains unfinished, lacking batting, backing, and binding.
