Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 202:
Description
45 x 90 This textile item consists of four joined square blocks featuring a variation of the Dresden Plate or Friendship Ring pattern. Each block displays a circular ring composed of approximately 40 to 45 individual narrow fabric wedges. The wedges are made from various mid-20th-century printed cotton scraps, including florals, stripes, polka dots, checks, and geometric motifs, many characteristic of feed sack fabrics. The fabric rings are hand-appliqu?d to a cream-colored cotton background using a visible running stitch. The center of each ring is open, showing the background fabric. The blocks are joined together, but the piece remains an unfinished quilt top without batting, backing, or finished edges.
